I got this recipe years ago from a lady that made wonderful easy bread.I have used this as the dough for bread for dinner rolls, Italian bread, herb bread, and cinnamon rolls.
Ingredients
3cups flour
1tsp salt
2Tbls sugar
1 package yeast
1 egg
1 cup warm water
1/4 cup oil
Directions
Put 1 cup warm water in blender then add yeast and let sit for 5 minutes. While it is sitting measure together in small bowl oil, egg, salt, and sugar. When 5 minutes has past blend water and yeast for 15 seconds. Then add oil, egg mixture and blend for 8 seconds. Put 3 cups of flour in bowl and pour wet ingredients over flour and stir until a soft blended ball forms.Place dough ball in oiled bowl ,cover with small towel and place in warm area of the kitchen and let rise until double. Then punch dough down form into loaf and place in oiled bread pan and cover to let rise until double. When it has risen place in 350 degree oven for 30-45 minutes until top is light brown.Remove from oven and cover top with a couple layers of butter to soften top.Run a table knife around the edges of the bread pan to loosen and turn pan upside down into hand and then place on a cooling rack
This dough can be rolled our flat after the first rising on a floured counter and covered in unmelted butter a layer of brown sugar and then sprinkled with cinnamon. Next roll dough up tightly until you have a long tube and then cut roll with sharp knife in about 3/4 inch wide pieces and lay them flat on greased jellyroll and bake at 350 until dough is light brown.Remove from pan immediately and cover in powdered sugar icing.
This dough can be made into Italian bread by adding a couple Tbsp's of Italian seasoning to the flour before adding wet ingredients.
The dough can be formed into braids or Dinner rolls or bread sticks. This very easy.
